YAPPERs in the Garden

We’re not sure anyone imagined YAP would grow the way it has. From one modest original garden in Bennington, to now five gardens spanning four four towns and two counties.

Each of our lands have their own personalities and purposes.

Tending to the flowersYAP Bennington has been flourishing in Bennington, Vermont since 2006. We’ve worked the land on the grounds of Mount Anthony Union Middle School since 2007. This garden holds a lot of our history. Here we grow vegetables that support YAP and other community programs.

YAP Manchester has it’s home in Manchester, Vermont in the Manchester Community & Educational Garden that The Tutorial Center developed with a lot of help from Transition Town Manchester, Manchester Elementary & Middle School, and the Town of Manchester.

YAP Farm at Hiland HAll Farmhouse in North Bennington, Vermont is a wonderful collaboration with the Friends of Hiland Hall Garden who are famous for their Garden Divas—a group of enthusiastic gardeners out to make our part of the world a lush and healthy place! YAP Farm is the hub of our collaborations with Bennington College, Southern Vermont College and the historic Park-McCullough House.

YAP at Smokey House in Danby, Vermont is our newest food garden, opened in spring 2013, and is still developing its personality. Working with Smokey House Center we’re creating a vibrant garden and program that compliment The Tutorial Center’s Field Studies program and our new experiential academic program YouthWork and Learn.
